Setting up card payments and getting paid
Card payments go straight to your own bank account. You set it up once; after that it runs itself. Payments are processed by Stripe, so the setup form is theirs — Side Quest Booking never sees or stores card numbers.
1. Switch on card payments
- Open Settings → Payments. Only the owner can do this, because it decides which bank account the money lands in.
- Press Set up card payments. You will be asked for your sign-in code again — anything that touches money asks twice.
- Fill in the payment provider's form: your business, who you are, and your bank account. It opens in the same tab and brings you back to Side Quest Booking when you finish.
- Back on Payments, the heading tells you where you are: Ready to take payments, or Payment setup is not finished yet with what is still missing. Check again now refreshes it; Finish setting up payments takes you back to the form.
2. When money reaches your bank
Bank transfers (owner only) shows what is ready for your bank, what is still coming in, and every transfer made. You choose:
- When money becomes ready: the day after the course ends, or as soon as each payment clears (usually a couple of days).
- How often it is sent: every day, every week, every month, or only when you press send.
- Send now: standard (one to two business days) or instant (about thirty minutes, for a small fee shown before you confirm).
Holding money until a course has run means a cancellation can be refunded from money you have not spent yet. The Refund fund tab lets you keep some back for exactly that.
Apple Pay and Google Pay
The wallet buttons need your booking page on your own web address. See Your booking domain, and why Apple Pay needs it. We register the address for you once card payments are on.
Refunds
Owners and managers refund from the booking itself: Refund to card, say who cancelled — the customer or you — and Side Quest Booking works out the amount from your cancellation policy before you confirm. Nobody at the counter has to decide it on the spot. Refund and cancel in one step does both. Refunds ask for your sign-in code if you have not entered it in the last ten minutes.
If a customer disputes a charge
If a customer asks their bank to take a payment back, it appears under Money → Disputes with the days left to answer. Side Quest Booking drafts your answer from what it already knows — the booking, the signed waiver, check-in — and you review it and press Send to the bank. You can also choose not to contest it. The disputed amount and the bank's dispute fee come out of your balance while the bank decides; if you win, the disputed amount comes back to you.
